“Murah-murah” at Kuching Sunday Market and Sibu Central Market

Hate for the chilly atmosphere but long for the crowded stalls? Head for the local markets that will do you a favor.  Smell the welcoming scent and greeted by the warmth that you will hardly found at the department stalls. When travelling, include a local market shopping spree in your itinerary could be a marvelous idea if you wish to see the authentic local culture and the people’s ways of living.
Kuching Sunday Market and Sibu Central Market will complete your exotic journey to the East while living the wooden puppets, key chains, and seashells to the souvenir shops. You will see things that you have never come across – live hens and ducks wrap in the newspaper, durian that appears in bright orange colour, local mandarin and longan with the skin in green colour, and you can squat to watch the cock fight performance. Get the fresh local vegetables and fruits in season and you can ask the sellers on how to eat them in the ‘most appropriate’ way. You might inspire the housewives to share with you the best home cook recipe while they are bargaining with the sellers in a very creative way just to get few cents discount or to have some small free spring onions.
As in Sarawak, you will find the ethnic groups such as the Iban and the Bidayuh are selling more exotic type of products yet cheaper in price. Don’t underestimate them, they are the simple kind of people yet produce the purest honey that costs only RM15. They sell the freshly harvested vegetables from their unpolluted lands. As for the food hunter, by familiarize with the raw ingredients from the market, you will know how to order the best local taste in the restaurant.
Wouldn’t it be nice if you bring back home the secret of cooking midin and paku for your kitchen master? This is where it worth a visit that you will never regret.

Forget-Scent-Not

Smell the scent, sense the fragrance, is a method used to recognize and to familiarize without touching, seeing, and feeling. Scent, a powerful chemical that enables a cub or a child to associate its mother without seeing. And because of the scent, a stag will produce a musky pheromone to attract a doe during the rut, that people use it today to perform the similar function, to get the aphrodisiac sensation, except it is based on no season. Unfortunately, our body odor is not pleasant all the time. At times, some liquid are dripped onto the wrist or the back of the ear lobe, believed in the fragrance to be carried by the vessel and distributed inconspicuously. This magical potion that has been called perfume, the blending of alcohol with variety of oils extracted from flowers, fruits, or synthetic, causing especially the women, who have probably impossible of tracking its era of her association with fragrance, to be indulgent in it. One of the tourist spots, the must-do activity in France is to visit the perfumery. Although the tour comes with a perfume vial as a door gift, it would become more exciting and anticipating if the 'fragrance tour' has completed with a present when the smell guessing activity is carried out. About the door gift, sorry to say, it smells of mosquito coil, in which i admit that i don't appreciate some of the 'arts of smell'. Yet, the tour lady who works for this Fragonard Parfumeur is someone worth my notice. Her thin sharp nose, the act of placing the perfumed sticks in front of her nose is sexy and really soothed the eyes. The journey of discovering perfumes today can be as easy as obtaining a sample from the cosmetic counter,in which i have one, Midnight Rose from Lancome. Or is it only as determined as Perfume: The Story of a Murderer, the perfection can only be achieved?

So Far So Good

The destination takes a-three-hour journey
Not much to be viewed along the winding road
But deep inside the heart
doodup...doodup
'What is going to happen next?'

Where is our beloved country?
'Between Thailand and Singapore'
How much the value of it?
'Excuse me,it's the inheritance of the nation!'

Once upon a time
we were ruled by separation
Now we sleep side by side
Do we bite each other?
'No, we have pillow talk'

The patriotic songs echoed the hall
A clear recollection of SMSM
The songs carried the same message as the old time
Only with its purpose of difference

'Never demand but give'
by: Mr Yazed
'Kuat makan malas kerja'
by: Pak Uda

Conquer the fear by taking the first step
step out to the air while trying abseiling
Challenge the physical fitness by running a-2KM 'marathon'
To prove that your life is not wasted from relentless trying

To my beloved country
To BTN Maran,Pahang

Disgrace

SHE doesn’t deserve a spoil; she can kick his ass but receive an affectionate hug in return
She can lose her temper towards him, but not HER
She deserves an expensive gift; SHE deserves a one-night stand
They indulge in ugly battles, he will still be with her; SHE keeps on waiting, he said, ‘Sorry, but I can’t make it.’
While he touched HER, pressing and sucking HER breasts greedily, he told HER about her weaknesses
He plans for their future; but he can’t promise HER anything
He said either one must tolerate; but he is not going to be a responsible man to HER
Whenever he bedded HER, he said he felt guilty upon HER
He rewards HER with ‘Thank you’; SHE answers ‘You are welcomed.’

The allegory of Frankenstein

My ex-housemate has been dumped by her boyfriend and causes her to live a life as if without soul. Oops, if she knows I’m talking about her like that for sure she will become fast and furious – fast come to shut my mouth up, furious to delete my blog.

She said they have not really talked about it but her boyfriend mentioned he was stressful to be with her, and reluctantly to contact her. She said she can feel it, her intuition told her that her boyfriend is not keen on her anymore.

The corpse is walking here and there every day, her eyes are dead, I’m sure of it. I ask her why she covers her whole body with black colour, she said it represents her sadness of being abandoned. Who said black belongs to depression? Black is my nobel colour. When I feel I have an empty soul, my colour is white.

It sounds like nothing to do with Frankenstein. What am I trying to say is when you live your life not according to your desire, or you seem don’t live a human life, it’s like Frankenstein, a-human-with-not-a-human. Frankenstein’s creator abandons him, afraid of his ugliness, I suppose, but more to his own weakness, in facing his failure and weaknesses. So do love matter, you see your own weaknesses and your lover’s when it’s time to say goodbye.

Bali (3-6 May 2008)

Kintaman – The Great Is Under Your Feet

Talking about enjoying meals with the picturesque panorama to go with your appetite, how about having buffet lunch above the volcano & lake and barbeque seafood dinner by the sea?
Chill in front of the Batur volcano, I dare no to show a bit of disrespect to the creation of nature. The thrill is not easy to be described. I’m such a tiny and insignificant in front of the enormous volcano. I thought I’m so great to step on it but it is the one that welcomed me with open arms. The hot soup is just hot enough to burn your excited emotion. Sate lilit (balinese minced seafood satay skewed with lemongrass) is my favourite local food here.

Jimbaran Bay – Romantic Isn’t Expensive

The sound of wave breaks on the shore gently with the candle-light barbeque seafood dinner waiting for you at Jimbaran Bay is a romantic experience. Soak your feet beneath the water and the cool will make you realize how real the heaven is close to you. Enjoy the music played by the band; it harmonizes well with the mood of the night.

Batubulan – The Legendary Dance

The Barong Dance is a must visit programme in Bali. Each visitor will receive a leaflet describing the story behind the dance upon the arrival at the entrance hall. Here, I’m going to quote the synopsis written inside the leaflet: [The Barong – Play represents an eternal fight between good and evil spirit. Barong (a mythological animal) represents a good spirit and Rangda (a mythological monster) represents an evil one.] The dance started with music over tone, performed by the orchestra, followed by 5 acts. Pay attention to the body language perform by the two female dancers who representing the servants of Rangda, especially the movement of the eyes and the fingers. The dance accomplished by the music and the movement of the eyes and the fingers can make you feel the emotions of: nervous, angry, dangerous, suspicious, etc. Before you leave the hall, don’t forget to take photos with the dancers as their costume are really unique.

Tegallang Village – Eat Away the scenic Inspiration

Well-known for its rice terrace field viewing, a plate of plain rice in front of you becomes significant. So, do you still want to waste a single rice?

Tanah Lot Temple – The Stunning On the Rock

This Balinese Hindu Temple is located above a big stone in coastal periphery, next to the Indian Ocean. I’m lucky enough because during my visit the seawater is not tide, therefore I have the fate to walk to the temple. The magnificent view made it mysterious yet respectful. A local ceremony was being held and the tourists were allowed to bath their hands and face with the holy water. After that, an orchid was placed on top of the ear and some paddy was put on the forehead of the tourist to represent your bad luck had been washed off and good luck shall be gained. The tourists will donate some money for this ritual.
